Throughout his thirty-six years of practicing law in central Ohio, Mr. Collins has successfully represented thousands of clients in a wide variety of matters ranging from small consultations to multi-million dollar claims. A sample of representative matters includes the following:
• Represented the fiduciary in a wrongful death action stemming from a semi-truck collision, resulting in $4,250,000 in recovery
• Complex construction litigation resulting in recovery of approximately $2,200,000
• Represented plaintiff in a successful will contest, resulting in recovery to decedent’s surviving spouse in excess of $2,000,000
• Personal injury settlement without filing litigation, resulting in recovery in excess of $1,700,000
• Complex corporate fraud litigation in the context of a probate estate resulting in benefit to client in excess of $1,300,000
• Represented family and estate in a survival personal injury claim that resulted in recovery of more than $900,000
• Probate litigation over missing/embezzled assets resulting in recovery of nearly $500,000 of estate assets
• Represented plaintiff in jury trial resulting in $200,000 verdict for false imprisonment and intentional infliction of emotional distress
• Formation of corporations and limited liability companies, including drafting of operating agreement and code of regulations
• Negotiation of commercial lease agreements
• Negotiation of the termination of commercial lease agreements
• Negotiated the termination of a purchase agreement for a liquor license
• Drafted wills and trusts
• Successfully protected employee in internal affairs hearing/investigation
• Assisted several non-profit companies obtain 501(c)(3) tax-exempt status with the IRS

Mr. Collins completed his undergraduate degree at Ohio University and received his J.D. from The Ohio State University Moritz College of Law in 1973. In addition to practicing law, Mr. Collins was an officer in the Ohio National Guard, was an Administrative Assistant to United States Congressman Clarence Miller, and served a term as a board member on the ADAMH Board of Franklin County.
Mr. Collins is licensed to practice in Ohio and the United States Supreme Court. Mr. Collins is a member of the Association of Trial Lawyers of America, Franklin County Trial Lawyers Association, Ohio State Bar Association, and Columbus Bar Association.
Mr. Collins enjoys spending time with his wife and five children, hiking, traveling, automobile racing, playing competitive ice hockey, and reading.

Mr. Slagle graduated Magna Cum Laude from Capital University Law School. While at Capital, Mr. Slagle was Managing Editor of the Law Review, completed an externship with Judge John D. Holschuh in the United States District Court for the Southern District of Ohio, and was nominated to the Order of the Curia. In addition, Mr. Slagle earned the CALI Excellence for the Future Award for Trial Advocacy, Decedent’s Estates, and Business Associations, which award is given to the student earning the highest grade in the class. Prior to law school, Mr. Slagle obtained his B.A. from Baldwin-Wallace College where he was a two-year captain of the varsity golf team.
Mr. Slagle is a frequent speaker for the Ohio State Bar Association on the topic of will contests for the OSBA’s Elder Law Institute and Probate Litigation Continuing Legal Education seminar. Mr. Slagle has also published on the topic: The Modern Family Feud, Columbus Bar Association, Lawyers Quarterly, Winter 2010.

Mr. Slagle also has extensive experience at the appellate level writing briefs and making oral arguments. Mr. Slagle is licensed to practice in Ohio and the United States District Court, Southern District of Ohio. Mr. Slagle is a member of the Ohio State Bar Association and the Columbus Bar Association.

Ms. Traven received her J.D., Cum Laude, from Capital University Law School in 2006, where she was nominated to the Order of the Curia. While at Capital, Ms. Traven served as an Associate Editor (2004-2005) and Research Editor (2005-2006) for the Capital University Law Review. Ms. Traven earned the CALI Excellence for the Future Award for Interviewing and Counseling, which award is given to the student earning the highest grade in the class. In addition, she worked as a teaching assistant in the legal research and writing department for two years, and studied comparative law in Germany and Greece during the summer of 2004. Prior to law school, Ms. Traven obtained her B.S. in Business from Miami University in 2003.

Prior to joining the firm, Ms. Tracey was an associate in the Corporate and Securities practice area with the law firm of Porter, Wright, Morris, and Arthur. At Porter Wright, Ms. Tracey represented private and public companies in merger, acquisition, and sale transactions, and advised public companies on federal and state securities law compliance, and ongoing securities reporting obligations. Ms. Tracey also assisted clients with business formation, contract preparation and negotiation, and ongoing business considerations.
Ms. Tracey’s career highlights include:

• Represented a seller in a complex $20 million asset sale
• Represented a client in a $13 million commercial loan refinance

Ms. Tracey graduated cum laude from Miami University and earned a Bachelor of Science degree in both Finance and Management Information Systems. While attending Miami, Ms. Tracey was an active member of her sorority, Kappa Kappa Gamma, and studied in Luxembourg at the MU Dolibois European Campus in Luxembourg. Ms. Tracey graduated magna cum laude from Capital University Law School. While attending Capital University Law School, Ms. Tracey was the Managing Editor of the Law Review, was nominated to the Order of the Curia, and received the CALI Award of Excellence in both Legal Writing I and II, and Legal Drafting classes, which is the award given to the student with the highest grade in the class. Additionally, Ms. Tracey completed an externship with the Office of the U.S. Attorney General, Civil Division, clerked for Collins & Slagle and Porter Wright, and Ms. Tracey’s law review article was published.
Currently, Ms. Tracey is a contributing editor to The Law & You, an Ohio State Bar Association publication. Ms. Tracey is licensed to practice in Ohio and in the United States District Court, Southern District of Ohio. Ms. Tracey is a member of the Ohio State Bar Association and the Columbus Bar Association. Ms. Tracey enjoys spending time with her family, writing, playing tennis, running, interior decorating, antiquing, and photography.

Tonya Munce has been a paralegal with Collins & Slagle Co., LPA since 2005. Ms. Munce obtained her B.S. in Business Administration from Ohio Dominican University in 2003, and is a 2004 graduate of the Capital University Law School Paralegal Program.
Furthermore, Ms. Munce has earned the distinction of being an Ohio State Bar Association Certified Paralegal. OSBA Paralegal Certification is a credential earned by obtaining objective standards measuring the training, knowledge, experience, and skill of paralegals. It requires a commitment to excellence, and is intended to identify highly qualified paralegal professionals. |
